●The flamingo can only eat when its head is upside - down . 

If we or any animal eat food , they eat  by straightening its mouth but Flamingos feed by turning its mouth upside down. The reason is that , flamingos are filter feeders , using their tongue as a sieve to catch food . It will put its neck down under the water with its mouth essentially upside , then close its mouth and force the water through comb - like extensions on its beak , using its tongue in order to push the water out while keeping all the food in.

● Flamingos are naturally white.

Flamingos are pink due to their diet of shrimps and crustacean that turns them pink . The color pink comes from carotenoids in the crustaceans and plankton that flamingos eat .

             

● The feathers under their wings is black.

The feathers under the wings ( flight feathers ) of flamingos are black which are visible only when the birds are flying .
